EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS
Tuesday May 14th 2024
Melton South Primary School acknowledges the Wurundjeri People as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn and play. We value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture. We recognise the First People’s connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respects to Elders, both past, present and emerging.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Everyone has the right to be SAFE
Everyone has the right to be RESPECTED
Everyone has the right to LEARN
EXCITING WEEK: Today we had our dress up day and open morning for parents and carers to watch STEAM lessons in the classroom. Thanks to our STEAM teachers, Kirsty Bramall and Adele Mowat for organising the activities for today. On Thursday we have our first ever colour fun run, both students and staff are very excited about this event. Thanks to Stephanie Millan for organising this event.
SOCIAL MEDIA: We have had incidents this week in the grade 6 area with students making inappropriate comments etc. on Tik Tok about other students. This causes a lot of stress and anxiety for those students at school. Please support us by monitoring what your children are posting on these sites.
SCHOOL UPGRADE DELIVERY: I received this information from Tom Kirkland, Chief Executive Officer, Victorian School Building Authority last week:
As you know, in the 2023–24 budget, funding was allocated through the School Upgrade Delivery Fund to begin planning for a future upgrade at your school. Modernising Victorian schools, and building new ones, is a key priority for the government. This is why they have recognised the need at your school and supported you through the planning process.
While funding has not been allocated for your project to progress to construction at this time, the VSBA will continue to work with your school to advance your planning project to the Tender Documentation phase, if it has not reached that point already.
This means that your project will be fully designed and documented, ready to go to market as soon as funding is confirmed.
GROUND WORKS: I am sure you will have seen the areas near the gym where Garry Vella, our Facilities Officer has put down synthetic turf. Every playtime and lunchtime students are there. Before this it was either a dust bowl or mud. Thanks Garry.
PHOTOS: We received very positive feedback from the photo company about the organisation over the two days. Well done Sharleen Honey and Adele Mowat.
MOTHERS DAY STALL: Our Mothers Day stall was a huge success thanks to Wanda McDonald for organising all of the gifts and her team of volunteers who helped her over the two days.
