Melton South Primary School

Fulfillment Through Learning

Melton South Primary School is now in its 100th year of service to the community. There have been many changes over the years and the school now has over 930 students, and 100 staff including the ancillary staff.

Parents are very involved at Melton South in many ways and it is their dedicated support and assistance in many areas that enable us to provide the quality of education that we offer.

Melton South Primary School values Respect, Honesty, Tolerance, Care, Cooperation, Fun, & Responsibility. It is through these values we relate to our students, parents, and the community. The school is committed to addressing students’ individual needs through the development and implementation of quality testing and learning programs that foster lifelong learning.

Our Philosophy

At Melton South Primary we believe everyone has the right to be safe, respected, and to learn. Our school values, cooperation, responsibility, fairness, caring, tolerance, respect, honesty, and fun, guide the decisions and behaviours of all members of our school community.

At MSPS we believe all children can achieve success given the opportunity, support, and inspiration through a strong performance and development culture. Our Vision is to create a safe and respectful environment that fosters a growth mindset in all stakeholders to achieve excellence. We administer, collate, and analyse student data to inform teaching and learning. We use High Impact Teaching Strategies including setting goals, structured lessons, explicit teaching, collaborative learning, and multiple exposures with an ongoing focus on differentiated teaching. We constantly strive to adopt the best practices by keeping informed of new initiatives based on educational theory and research.

We are strongly committed to creating and supporting a school-wide culture and environment that recognises and enhances student well-being. Our Mission is that Melton South Primary School is a progressive community that leads the way. Together we create motivated, respectful learners who achieve excellence.

Our buildings and grounds are a source of great pride and improvement.

We offer a full program of specialist subjects which include Performing Arts and Art & Technology, Physical Education and Sport, which may change to suit the school’s needs from year to year. In 2018 we introduced LOTE (Language Other Than Language), which is French.

We have a strong Welfare and Discipline Policy.

We aim to provide your child with skills in literacy and numeracy and to provide the opportunities for your child to develop interests as a happy and responsible member of society.
