WELCOME BACK: I would like to welcome all our new families to our Melton South Primary School community. I hope everyone had a restful holiday and ready for a busy term 2.

SWIMMING: Grade 3 students are participating in the swimming program during weeks 1 and 2. Grade 4 students will have their swimming program weeks 3 and 4. We are very fortunate that the Department of Education provides funding to enable these programs to go ahead.
NEW SCHOOL WEBSITE: Last year we held a workshop with students having input into the design of our new school website. All of their ideas have been included in the design, hopefully, it will be online in late term 2 or early term 3. We are also in the process of redesigning our newsletter, and student of the week awards.
SCHOOL UNIFORM: Students are required to wear their school uniform every day. If your child is not in uniform, please send a note to their classroom teacher.
GRADE 3 – 6 CAMPS: Just a reminder if you want your child to attend the camp at Roses Gap a $100 deposit needs to be paid by May 17th.

SWPBS BADGE EARNERS
Each day, MSPS students work their way up the SWPBS learning ladder through following our school values, showing Respect, Kindness, and striving to do their best every day. When they reach the top, they are recorded with an Outstanding day on their token acknowledgment chart. When a student reaches a significant milestone of Outstanding days, they earn a badge.

SCHOOL FUN RUN
Our very first school colour fun run will be taking place this term during Education Week. A tentative date of Thursday, May 16th has been selected. Each child participating will need to provide a plain white coloured t-shirt. Students will be given a headband and pair of sunglasses from the organising company. Students will be able to fundraise for the school. More information will come soon.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE – INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF)
CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions, or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
The annual CSEF amount per student is $150.
HOW TO APPLY
New applicants should contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form or print of the one attached to this newsletter.
If you applied for CSEF at your child’s school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:
- new student enrolments; your child has started or changed schools this year.
- changed family circumstances; such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.
Check with the school office if you are unsure.
Applications close on 26 June 2024 – NO FURTHER APPLICATIONS WILL BE PROCESSED after this date.
