EVERY   SCHOOL   DAY   COUNTS       December 2nd 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Everyone has the right to be SAFE

Everyone has the right to be RESPECTED

Everyone has the right to LEARN

PREP TRANSITION: It was great to meet our new preps for 2023. This is the second opportunity they have had to come to school, to see the classrooms, meet the staff and other students. We were able to have an interpreter on site to translate the information to parents where needed. At our next transition meeting the students will meet their teacher for 2023, their new classmates and know the classroom they will be in.

CAMPS: We have had three camps this week. Both the grade 3 /4 and the Grade 2 camp were very successful with the students thoroughly enjoying the activities, accommodation etc. The grade 1 camp is still underway with staff reporting the children are thoroughly enjoying the experience. They will return this afternoon at approximately 2:30pm. A big thank you to all the staff who voluntarily attended the camp. A thank you also to Ms White, Ms Couley and Ms Morris who organised all the medications for the three camps.

GRADUATION: We are all looking forward to the Grade 6 Graduation being held next Monday. Just a reminder it is strictly 2 people only attending with each graduate due to the extremely high number of students we have in grade 6 this year. We have to stay within the limits of the venue’s capacity.

WHOLE SCHOOL CELEBRATION: We will be having our traditional whole school breakfast to celebrate the end of the 2022 school year. The difference this year is that it will be between 9am and 10am. It will be for students and staff only. This will take the place of individual grade parties. Notes will be sent home next week outlining the date, cost etc.

MEET THE TEACHER: In the last week of school students will have the opportunity to meet their new teacher for 2023, their new classmates and the room they will be in next year.

VIRTUAL TOUR: We have our first copy of our school’s virtual tour. It allows students and parents to see a 360 degree view of the front entrance, classrooms, library, gym, French, STEAM, Art spaces, playgrounds, garden areas, sandpits and chook shed. As soon as we have edited it we will put it on our website.

The STEAM room is spilling over with our students’ enthusiastic, engineering efforts this term. Over the last few weeks Grade 3’s and 4’s, have been busy planning, creating, and testing their bridge and chariot models while utilising recycled materials. Each model incorporates programming a Sphero robot to enact a task. The chariot models will be pulled by a Sphero whereas the Grade 4 students will try to make their robot go across their bridges without falling off.

In other areas, the Grade 2’s, are learning about block coding and creating their own “Dance Party”. If parents would like to access this for their children to play on, they can Google “Hour of Code, Dance Party”, then click on the video icon at the top of the screen.

Grade 5’s and 6’s, are both coding a route in which an Osobot robot can be programmed to follow. The 5’s have created a map of their local area while the 6’s are creating a world map of places they would like to travel to. We have a very talented bunch of students.
