Newsletter 25th June 2024

EVERY   SCHOOL   DAY  COUNTS
Tuesday June 25th 2024

Melton South Primary School acknowledges the Wurundjeri People as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn and play. We value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture. We recognise the First People’s connection to lands, waters, and communities. We pay our respects to Elders, both past, present and emerging.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Everyone has the right to be SAFE
Everyone has the right to be RESPECTED
Everyone has the right to LEARN

School Oval upgrade: We have closed our school oval for a much needed upgrade. The cricket nets will be removed as they are not used by students. We will be adding 2 new larger soccer fields in their place. A sprinkler system will be installed along with roll on turf. The area 5 black fenced oval will remain open and accessible to all students throughout this time. We believe this to be a short term inconvenience for a long term gain.

Winter Lightning Premiership: Congratulations to the Girls T-ball team who came first in the Winter Lightning Premiership and to all the other students who participated in both the Netball and AFL teams. A great day was had by all, and it was lovely to hear that our students demonstrated good sportsmanship.

School Drop Off Zone: A reminder to parents that parking in our drop off zones is not permitted. Please use this zone for prompt drop off or pick up of your child(ren).

Council may be monitoring these areas so please obey the road signs.

Term break: Just a reminder that term 2 ends on Friday with school finishing at 2.15pm. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday July 15th.

Take care and stay safe.

GOLD COIN DONATION TO PARTICIPATE
This term our SWPBS team has chosen to donate to Combined Churches Caring Melton Foodbank. Please donate generously.
Here at Melton South Primary School our community is very fortunate to receive food donations from Combined Churches Caring Melton Foodbank every Friday. MSPS students and parents can choose 2 items per family. Pick up is in front of the old library building, supervised by our kind Wellbeing Staff.

Who is CCCM?

Combined Churches Caring Melton (CCCM) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping the residents of City of Melton access food support, budget education, counselling and other support services. CCCM work to provide a safe place for anyone experiencing a crisis to access support and we aim to help people in need by walking alongside them to reduce dependency through friendship and education. We do this by teaching skills that offer an understanding of financial and daily planning to empower those who come to us for help to embrace a more secure, socially and financially inclusive future.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE – INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF)

CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions, or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The annual CSEF amount per student is $150.

HOW TO APPLY

New applicants should contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form or print of the one attached to this newsletter.

If you applied for CSEF at your child’s school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.

You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:

  • new student enrolments; your child has started or changed schools this year.
  •  changed family circumstances; such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.

Check with the school office if you are unsure.
