Newsletter 17th March 2023

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

LINE MARKING AND GAMES:  Over the long weekend we had new games marked on the quadrangle area and near the Chook shed. We have a large snakes and ladders game board, a target, a mirror me, a large car mat, triple hopscotch, and a dragon and caterpillar which features numbers and letters. Thanks to Angie Lanza who came into school on the long weekend to enable this to happen.

NAPLAN:  Students in grades 3 and 5 have been sitting NAPLAN tests this week. When the results come in, we will advise parents and then they can be picked up from the office.

HATS:  As we are an accredited sun smart school students need to wear their navy broad-brimmed hats when playing outside and doing Physical Education lessons. They are available from the office for $12.

HOUSE ATHLETIC SPORTS: All students are placed in one of the following houses on enrolment:

DAVIS                        ARTHUR                          CAHILL                   COCHRANE

The athletic sports are held at Bridge Road Recreation Reserve. Students in grades 3 – 6 will participate in events such as the long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus, hurdles, and a variety of races. Students can dress in house colours but please no face painting. Teachers do their very best when they are overseeing the different events; we are promoting sportsmanship and would appreciate your support with this. Parents are welcome to attend.

Melton South Primary School acknowledges the Wurundjeri People as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn and play. We value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture. SPORTS REPORT

Just this week gone our school participated in the Summer Sport Lighting Premiership and our students were amazing with their display of sportsmanship.  Not only were they supporting each other but they were supportive of their competitors wins and loses.

The Volleyball Team. This year our Volleyballers played exceptional as a team.  They made sure that they’re teammates were getting loads of encouragement along with getting loads of wins.  After 7 rounds they had won 6 and lost 1.  This meant they we were able to make the Semi Finals and there opponent was going in undefeated and they were St Anthonys. The team put up a great fight but St Anthonys were too good on the day.

The Cricket Team. Our crickets this year played with great comradery and showed great enthusiasm for the game.  Both teams had wins to their names but were unlucky and just missed out on the finals.

The Tennis Team. We had a tough time at Tennis this year the teams we played against weren’t easy.  We played some great shots as well as some not too great shots.  Each game we were getting better and better but unfortunately we ended up coming 6th out of 9.
