EVERY   SCHOOL   DAY   COUNTS
Friday October 27th 2023

Message from the Principal

Everyone has the right to be SAFE
Everyone has the right to be RESPECTED
Everyone has the right to LEARN

GALA DAY: What an amazing day we had on our Gala Day celebrating Melton South Primary School centennial year. It was great catching up with former staff, students and families. Many of our former students now have their children attending Melton South Primary. We heard so many stories from students who attended our school in the 1950’s and 1960’s. I would like to thank all of the volunteers who were on the planning committee and the rest of our staff who assisted in both setting up, attending the Gala Day and those who assisted in packing up after the event. I am sure you will have noticed the new paintings on many walls around the school and also the House shields and mascots in the gym. The amazing artwork was all done by Colette Freund, one of our Education Support Staff. Colette was also responsible for the photo boards that were very popular on the gala day. The new time capsule will be buried, I am sure when it is opened in the future, education will have changed significantly.

2024: If you know your child/ren will not be attending Melton South Primary in 2024 please let us know at the office or email:   melton.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au  This will assist us with planning for 2024.

EVENTS: As you can see by the diary dates above we still have so many events to come between now and the end of the term in what has been a very busy year. Mrs Martin and students representing Melton South Primary in the Djerriwarrh Festival were busy at lunchtime yesterday rehearsing the dance they will do in the parade on Saturday the 11th of November.

GRADES 2024: Teachers devote many hours to the development of grades, taking many factors into consideration. If you have any specific requests, please put them into writing to the Principal marked Confidential and hand in to the office by tomorrow, Friday the 27th  of October. You may  send an email to melton.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au  subject – Attention Principal. All requests will be given due consideration.

With approx. 3000 guests visiting throughout the day there was a lot of excitement with the Petting Zoo, Face painting, Basketball Clinics and Maze on the oval, as well as a lot of positive feedback on all of the memorabilia on display throughout the school buildings. Thank you to all our families who could attend, the staff who worked hard behind the scenes on the planning and organisation and was in attendance on the day and to all of the wonderful local businesses who donated to our raffles!

SWPBS BADGE EARNERS
Each day, MSPS students work their way up the learning ladder through following our school values, showing Respect, Kindness, and striving to do their best every day. When they reach the top, they are recorded with an Outstanding day on their token acknowledgement chart.  When a student reaches a significant milestone of Outstanding days, they earn a badge, here is where we celebrate students who have worked hard to achieve their milestone badges.

PE NEWS 3/4 Touch Rugby Gala Day
Congratulations to the Gr 3/4 Touch Rugby team who represented our school at Seabrook Reserve, Broadmeadows. Students were given the opportunity to meet players from the Women’s Jillaroo National Rugby team. The team gave up their lunchtimes to train and work with Nathan from Melton Warriors. A big thank you to Nathan! The boys won 3 out of 3 games, with the girls winning one, drawing one and losing one. Well Done to both teams who played so well.

MINI ATHLETICS – Gr1 and PREPs Congratulations and well done to all the prep and Gr 1 students who participated at the Melton South Mini Athletics on Friday 20th October. Students rotated through a range of activities that they have been practising in PE. Of course, the day couldn’t have run without the help of the prep and Gr 1 staff and house captains. We look forward to having the Gr 2 day on Wednesday 2nd November.
